Ihang Lin
Dr. Ihang Lin is currently the pianist at San Francisco Opera Guild and guest artist at San José State University.
She has performed piano solo works in Carnegie Hall and won the special recognition award in 2012 San Antonio international piano competition and 1st prize in 2009 Aaron Richmond Piano Competition. At the age of 18, she made her soloist debut performing Mozart’s complete piano concerto No.21 in C major with Kaohsiung Youth Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan. In 2021, She performed as a soloist for Stephen Hartke’s contemporary piano concerto Ship of State with San José State University Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Fred Cohen. As a chamber musician and collaborative pianist, Dr. Lin has performed in US, Canada, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Taiwan, Switzerland and Italy.
From 2007 to 2009, Dr. Lin was the instructor for one-on-one and group piano lessons at Boston University. She also taught at South Shore Conservatory in Massachusetts and Community School of Music and Arts in California. For summer festivals, Dr. Lin was the piano faculty and collaborative pianist at Ticino Musica Festival in Lugano, Switzerland and International Lyric Academy in Vicenza, Italy. Her extensive experience in opera had also led her to work with Opera San José, Fremont Opera and West Bay Opera.
Dr. Lin holds her Bachelor of Music degree from Taipei National University of the Arts, Master of Music from New England Conservatory, and Doctor of Musical Arts from Boston University.
